Ocasio-Cortez Threatens to Subpoena Donald Trump Jr. for Posting a Meme
Earlier this week, Donald Trump Jr. took to Instagram to mock socialist congresswoman-elect, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Trump posted the following meme, alluding that under a socialist economy, Americans would have to eat their dogs.
Ocasio-Cortez was less than enthused about the meme, and responded by threatening to subpoena the President’s son.
I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up.
Please, keep it coming Jr – it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month.

Trump Jr. did not have a direct response to Ocasio-Cortez’s threats, but retweeted from other prominent conservatives who were quick to voice their opinions about the matter.
I just want to be clear:
Did a member-elect of Congress just threaten a private citizen with a subpoena over a meme?
There is no way in hell that this can be legal.

But Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t done yet. She had to get one last word in regarding the situation.
For the GOP crying that this is a “threat” – I don’t have power to subpoena anybody.
Congress as a body, GOP included, has the power. No indiv. member can issue a subpoena unless they are a Chair (which, as a freshman, I can assure you I will not be). Also must be under purview.

What Ocasio-Cortez did not want to discuss, however, was how Trump Jr. was correct about dogs being eaten under socialist economies. Such is the case in Venezuela, where citizens are forced to eat rats and dogs in order to survive.
Hopefully for the sake our our country, voices like Ocasio-Cortez’s will remain a minority in Washington, otherwise one day we too will be eating dogs and getting subpoenaed for complaining .
