Liberty Hangout Endorses Darryl W. Perry for President of the United States
While presenting his concession speech at the Libertarian Party Convention this past May, Darryl W. Perry had a stern warning for the delegates. “If we nominate two Republican governors as our ticket, and we compromise what we believe to take a federal handout, THIS PARTY WILL DIE!” The vastly disappointing campaign from Gary Johnson and Bill Weld has proven just this, leaving principled libertarians without a candidate to support.
But all hope is not lost. 17 states will have the option of voting for a real libertarian this November, as Darryl Perry has re-entered the race as a write-in candidate. If you live in Alabama, Alaska, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming, or the District of Columbia, you will be able to write-in Darryl Perry for President and have your vote counted.
In a statement about his decision to throw his hat back in the ring, Perry stated, “I do not make this decision lightly, however I have the ability to not let another election cycle go by without a philosophical libertarian candidate in the general election. Finally, I encourage everyone, including members of the Libertarian Party, to follow their conscience when they cast their ballot in the Presidential election.”
Perry’s platform is straightforward and to the point. He believes, “that all coercive forms of taxation should be eliminated, and government programs should be funded voluntarily… that people should be allowed to travel freely without government interference; this includes the right of individuals to choose where they decide to live… in the right of self-determination; that is the right of ‘determination by the people of a territorial unit of their own future political status’… that every person and/or group of people should be allowed to decide for themselves if and/or how they will be governed… that men do not need leaders, we are all capable of leading ourselves. Governments only get in the way of allowing this to happen… that the United States government, as it exists today, should be abolished!”
It’s time to stand behind a real libertarian. It’s time to revive the ideas that once made the Libertarian Party unique. It’s time to promote the ideas of self-ownership, self-governance, and decentralization. It’s time to stand against the sellouts and cowards who have watered down, and destroyed the libertarian message. It’s time to get behind a man who during the Libertarian Party primary, proved himself to be a true champion of liberty, and a leader that this party is in desperate need of.
It’s time to support Darryl W. Perry for President of the United States. We’re in. Are you?
