Austin Petersen Shocks Supporters, Decides to Run For Senate as a Democrat

The following is a satirical article

Libertarian entrepreneur Austin Petersen has been a man of many surprises. Coming in 2nd place just behind Gary Johnson in the Libertarian Party presidential primary a year ago, Petersen has quickly made a name for himself in the political arena.

After spending a year on his farm out in Missouri, Petersen made it publicly known that he was interested in running for US Senate in 2018.

Given the Libertarian Party’s struggle to win seats at both the local and federal level, it was rumored that Petersen would run on the GOP ticket, to have a better chance of beating Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill.

But Petersen’s supporters will be shocked to know that Liberty Hangout has learned that Petersen will instead be running for Senate as a member of the Democratic Party.

In an email statement to Liberty Hangout, Petersen told us,

“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are dwindling here in the grand republic. The American people require a swift and decisive victory, for it is most perilous to take the battle to Washington as expeditiously as possible. It was not an easy decision, but I felt the most seamless path to victory was through the Democratic Party. I am most certain my army of freedom ninjas will approve of my decision.”
