College Socialist Club Refuses to Work With Conservatives to Help Poor
Earlier in the week, two conservative organizations at Kent State University challenged their socialist counterparts on campus to a canned food drive competition.
Recognizing that socialists claim to care about the poor, Kent’s Turning Point USA and Young Americans for Liberty chapters challenged the school’s Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter to collect more donations than them, in order to help the poor.
In their tweet to YDSA challenging them to the food drive, Kent State YAL maintained the goal was to “come together for the good of the community.”
However, the Young Democratic Socialists of America club sought no common ground with their capitalist rivals, and outright rejected the offer. In a statement released through Twitter, the chapter said “we at YDSA do not work with organizations that promote/endorse figures who do promote sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Zionism, or any other intolerant dangerous belief.”
Kaitlin Bennett, president of Kent State Turning Point USA, told Liberty Hangout, “It’s disheartening to see socialists not put their money where their mouth is. They claim their ideology is based off of caring for people, yet refuse to do so if it means working with people they disagree with.”
YDSA’s refusal to work with their school’s TPUSA and YAL chapters only serves as further proof that socialists do not actually care about helping the poor, but only care about the destruction of their political enemies.
