Back in late October, Donald Trump released a list of things he hoped to accomplish in his first 100 days in office if elected President. Fourth on that list was “a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service.”
The Hill is now reporting that Donald Trump signed an executive order earlier this afternoon which will place a 5-year lobbying ban on administration officials.
The text of the executive order has not yet been released, but should be made available soon. In his 100 day plan, Trump also planned on instituting “a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government,” as well as “a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.” It is unclear if these measures were also included in Trump’s executive order.
More will be known shortly.
