Trump Picks Rick Perry to Head Department of Energy, which Perry Wants to Abolish
In 2011, former Texas Governor, Rick Perry, stood atop a stage in Iowa and declared “We’ll eliminate agencies that perform redundant functions. Get rid of the Department of Commerce, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy.”
Today, it’s been announced that Donald Trump has picked Rick Perry to be secretary of the Department of Energy. This nomination comes just one week after Trump selected Scott Pruitt, a fierce opponent of the EPA, to head the EPA. Days ago, Trump also nominated an avid opponent of the minimum wage to be his Secretary of Labor.
It will be interesting to see how these nominations play out as Trump takes office in January. Will Washington corrupt Trump and his cabinet members, or will they make America great again? Only time will tell.
