As we enter the third week of the government shutdown, House Democrats are still unwilling to provide Donald Trump with the funding he needs to build a wall on our southern border.
Despite the cost of illegal immigration totaling more than $155 billion each year, Democrats maintain that a $5 billion border wall is too expensive. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer continue to hold off in hopes that Donald Trump will be the first one to give in.
However much to their dismay, it appears that President Trump doesn’t plan on ceding an inch.
After meeting with President Trump on Friday, Chuck Schumer said that “[Trump] said he’d keep the government closed for a very long period of time — months or even years.”
According to CNN, “two people familiar with the meeting said Trump even mentioned extending the standoff ‘to the election’ and refused to back off his demand for $5.6 billion in funding for a border wall.”
