In August of this year, socialist know-nothing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visited a coffee shop she used to work at to say one last goodbye as they closed their doors for good.
The restaurant I used to work at is closing its doors.
I swung by today to say hi one last time, and kid around with friends like old times.
I’m a normal, working person who chose to run for office, because I believe we can have a better future.
You can do it too. We all can. pic.twitter.com/WeNsFm4eTt

In her goodbye to the restaurant, Ocasio-Cortez seems to allude that if elected, she would help normal working people who are hurting financially like this, saying “I’m a normal, working person who chose to run for office, because I believe we can have a better future.”
What Ocasio-Cortez fails to mention, however, is that it was policies she supports which are responsible for putting the coffee shop out of business.
New York City recently raised their minimum wage to $15 an hour, forcing a number of establishments like the one Ocasio-Cortez worked at to shut their doors. According to FEE, NYC’s minimum wage just two years ago was $9 an hour. The coffee shop she worked at employed approximately 150 people.
The President and Co-Owner of The Coffee Shop in Union Square told the New York Post, “The times have changed in our industry. The rents are very high and now the minimum wage is going up and we have a huge number of employees.”
