The left remains silent whenever tragedies occur that go against their narrative, especially when the media has more important things to cover such as the Mega Millions jackpot. In the case of Jerry Wolkowitz, a 56-year-old Jewish man who was brutally attacked by Jamil Hubbard, a 25-year-old black man, we find that the situation is no different.

Wolkowitz, according to his GoFundMe page, was “a reporter, a writer, a first aid volunteer, a dedicated worker, a wonderful friend, and a devoted family man with a loving fiancé.” This past May, he fell victim to a hate crime in which he was struck from behind, dragged into a parking lot, and then driven over with his own car which the attacker stole during the incident. For the past six months, he had been in a vegetative state until he passed away just days ago. The family members, who are rightfully confused and horrified, have arranged a funeral which will occur this Friday at 2pm.

There are two key facts which should raise eyebrows in this case: (1) Hubbard did not know this man, so it wasn’t an act of revenge, and (2) that he “told authorities he had assaulted Wolkowitz because he was a white man,” despite him being Jewish. In other words, the death of this innocent man was beyond senseless and based solely on his hatred of others based on their appearance.

Violence of any sort is never justified against benevolent individuals, and stories like these should strike a chord with anyone who claims to uphold the ideas of peace and justice. Hubbard, who had two prior convictions, was charged with “first-degree attempted murder, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and first-degree bias intimidation” after the attack. It’s clear that it’s a full-fledged murder at this point, and the best case scenario is that Hubbard spends his life behind bars, while hopefully the Wolkowitz family can find peace knowing that their loved one is no longer suffering.
