Recently on the Bill Press Show, Tom Perez, who is the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, praised Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a “democratic-socialist” (a socialist), saying “she represents the future of our party.”
Who is Ocasio-Cortez you might ask? Well for one thing, her campaign ad is hilarious, but this line of the video was telling:
“This race is about people versus money. We’ve got people, they’ve got money!”
In other words, taxpayers don’t foot enough of the bill, and she will happily take more from those who make the city richer and create more wealth. Funny enough, she touts her Economics degree as being proof she knows what she’s talking about, yet she has only a B.A., which means she learned from all Marxists professors in a span of four years at Boston University and still absorbed no insights into real economics.
One of her wishes is for a federal jobs guarantee, which means that people will be forced into jobs they don’t want to do and will get paid very little, and the people hiring them would be forced to against their will. Isn’t socialism supposed to be about giving power back to the workers? It’s yet again another recipe for government-induced chaos.
And should this be such a surprise that the Democratic Party is headed towards socialism? They’ve embraced many aspects of total State control of our lives, yet even some self-avowed socialists claim the democrats have always been too “liberal.” Some even claim there is a distinction between democratic-socialism and socialism, but Ayn Rand’s distinction between socialism and communism seemed to describe today’s political climate:
“There is no difference between communism and socialism, except in the means of achieving the same ultimate end: communism proposes to enslave men by force, socialism—by vote.”
