Officials at the University of Akron uncovered a plot by one of the professors to raise female students’ grades as a way to encourage more women to pursue technology.
Professor Liping Liu sent out an email to students stating that your grades may rise if you are a female.
Although the school stopped him from carrying out his goal. Liping Liu is still employed at the University of Akron. Rex Ramsier, the executive vice president of UA said in a statement.
“The University of Akron follows both the law and its policies and does not discriminate on the basis of sex,” the statement continued. “The professor in question has been advised accordingly, and he has reaffirmed his commitment to adhering to these strict standards.”
Since Ramsier’s statement, there has been no update on the status of Liping Liu as a professor. Liping Liu still has a webpage on the University’s site.
