This morning on a Detroit radio show, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) said “I am retiring today.” During the interview with The Mildred Gaddis Show, Conyers endorsed his son, John Conyers III to replace him stating “My legacy will continue through my children.”

Rep. Conyers resigns amid on-going sexual harassment allegations, and an inquiry by the House Ethics Committee. Conyers allegedly paid $27,000 in public funds as a settlement to a former female staffer. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI), and Minority Leader Nacy Pelosi (D-CA) both had called for Conyers to resign.

Rep. Conyers, at age 88, will leave the house as one of the longest serving members in history, serving since 1965.
