During the 2016 election, there was a running joke among politicos that Hillary Clinton would draft our daughters if she became President of the United States.
Despite her losing the election, it now seems as though this joke may actually become a reality.
Like their male counterparts, women may soon have to register for the military draft.
CNN reports that,
“The Senate overwhelmingly passed a $602 billion defense bill Tuesday that included an amendment that would require women to register for the draft — also known as the selective service — for the first time in history.”
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) was appalled by the bill, and remarked, “The idea that we should forcibly conscript young girls into combat to my mind makes little or no sense.”
But the neoconservative John McCain thinks it’s “simply fair” to conscript women in the draft.
The White House has threatened to veto the bill if it reaches the President’s desk.
