The Obamacare replacement bill being dubbed by many as ‘Obamacare Lite’ has officially been pulled.
According to The Hill, “President Trump asked Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to pull the measure a day after issuing an ultimatum that the House had to vote on it, a GOP aide said.”
Senator Rand Paul was the first elected representative in the Republican Party to take a stand against the bill, and helped draw a wave of opposition to the American Health Care Act in the GOP. His leadership may have single handedly derailed this bill and prevented it from going through.
Obamacare will still remain in place, but the healthcare debate is far from over.
Rand Paul will now try to gain more support for his bill, titled The Obamacare Replacement Act.
The bill is only four pages long, and can be read here.
